Deutsche Telekom Is Rebuilding Itself as an AI-Native Company Using OpenAI
Germany's largest telecom is overhauling customer service, networks, and internal workflows with OpenAI models in a full-stack transformation.
According to Reddit's r/artificial community, Meta will begin manufacturing its first in-house AI chip — codenamed "Iris" — in September, a direct move to reduce the company's dependence on Nvidia and AMD as it scales its AI computing capacity toward 7 gigawatts.
The chip was co-designed with Broadcom and will be fabricated by TSMC. Iris cleared bug-testing in six weeks with no major issues — a validation cycle that would be fast for any chip, let alone one targeting AI training and inference at Meta's scale.
Meta joins Google, Amazon, and Microsoft in building custom silicon to escape the Nvidia premium. The calculus is straightforward: at the compute volumes Meta needs, even modest per-chip savings compound into billions of dollars annually.
